Oliver Rath was a master of illusion. In an age of narcissistic individualism, he needed a social dimension, because authenticity is always measured in staging, in pictorial representation. 

He was the first self-managed artist who used social media as a tool to become famous. From 2008 till 2016 he published new images on his blog every day! During this period he became one of the most famous national photographers in Germany.

You can locate Olivers‘ work between art, design and fashion photography. In this way he captured the feelings of a generation, playfully moving between a range of media and styles. 

The (anti-)formalist gestures in Oliver Raths‘ images serve the radical code of his protagonists; they focus on the breaking of taboos and the crossing of boundaries.These provocative visual compositions violate bourgeois conventions; their high gloss surface conceals the abysmal and secretive with a dash of humor.
